Dr. Dori Tunstall is a California-based anthropologist, educator, and the world’s first Black dean of a faculty design.

As the former Dean of Design at Ontario College of Art & Design University [OCADU]), she conceptualized a look book-meets-calendar as a fundraising piece for the Dori Tunstall Racial Equity Bursary.

Tunstall modeled custom, inspired pieces from her wardrobe – one for each month – brought to life by Toronto-based master clothesmakers, Hoax Couture.

As the designers for the project, we were given free reign with approach to type treatment, and applied expressive typography to the month names, with the vision behind every garment explained in what we selected as a “Dori-friendly” font.
